The Bronx History and Activism Project (BxHAP) is a bi-weekly virtual history and civic program that introduces participants to a topic in local history and utilizes local primary and secondary sources to help bring the topic to life. Local community leaders join the program and challenge participants to rethink preconceptions and engage with organizations and elected officials to improve our City.
Brandon Montes started the Norwood Free Library in 2018 as a way to combat what he sees as a systemic problem around literary access. “For a long time, we didn’t have a bookstore here—an independent bookstore—in the Bronx. This session is hosted by Learning for Justice. Using the Let’s Talk! guide, this interactive, virtual professional development will provide participants the opportunity to learn strategies for creating supportive learning environments that encourage risk-taking.
